This red barn door is just up the road from where we live. It is one of three actually in the building. But this one, surrounded by green ivy, is especially pleasing to the eye. I love the stone work too.
Check out other doors at this week’s weekly photo challenge – door
Great door hiding in all that green. A bit mysterious.

What a door – unusual shade of red and intriguing split higher up than I’ve seen. I wonder why?

These half doors are quite traditional in old Irish buildings – not sure of the history of them, but may have had to do with fact that the windows where once taxed. So by having a door – you could keep bottom closed and open top to let in more light, but not be taxed for an extra window.

Very inviting and seems perfect for a children’s magical enchanted story complete with fairies and elves 🙂
